Fortune Teller: How a New Metal Band Is Growing Its Audience on Social Media

By Jim Burkhart, Summitsols.co

Fortune Teller describes its sound as “a blend of melodic modern and symphonic metal,” for fans of Unleash the Archers, Kamelot and Evergrey. The band formed in 2025 and was playing Bloodstock within months. We asked them how they built an audience so quickly, what works on social media, and what other bands (and small businesses) can learn from their approach.

They didn’t start from zero

The fast start wasn’t luck. The members are all seasoned musicians, and they brought that experience with them. “We are a new band but we are not starting from the grass roots up,” the band says. The fanbase and know-how from the projects they’ve each worked on gave the new band a strong foundation.

Facebook and Instagram lead the way

Facebook and Instagram are where Fortune Teller sees the most response. The band has been testing which kinds of content get a reaction, and the winners tend to include a call to action, such as asking fans to comment so the band can reply. That kind of post gets boosted further and gives the band a way to answer each comment and connect with fans one by one.

A story that runs through the album

The whole album has a story running through it, and the band uses it to make its visuals more fun. They lean into the lore and use it to bring the lyrics to life in videos and posts, which gives fans a reason to come back for the next chapter.

Posting while on the road

Theresa and Joe run the band’s social media. When the band is touring, they get a few posts ready ahead of time and schedule them. They also make tour diaries on the road, so fans see what life on tour really looks like.

What’s next

More music videos are on the way, and the band is building its album tour dates now. “2027 will be a great year for us,” they say, and they’re excited to bring their music and stage show to fans.

Their advice for other bands is simple: keep trying new things. If a reel fails, try something else, and keep going until something sticks.

What small businesses can take from this

  • Ask for a response. A clear call to action, like “comment and we’ll reply,” helps a post reach more people and starts a conversation.
  • Tell a story. A running storyline gives people a reason to follow along.
  • Plan ahead. Scheduling a few posts in advance keeps you visible when you’re busy.
  • Keep experimenting. Not every post will work, so try a different one.
